Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, 3rd Test at Chittagong, Day 2: Bangladesh bowled out for 503

Bangladesh were bowled out for 503 just before Tea on the second day of play against Zimbabwe at Chittagong on Thursday. This was also third highest total for Bangladesh in Tests. Bangladesh showed dominance on the opening day of the final Test when the openers, Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes showed brilliance with bat.


But on the second day Zimbabwe bowlers made a good comeback with ball and snapped few quick wickets. Bangladesh was 384 for five when they went for lunch on day two.


Immediately after lunch, Shakib Al Hasan reached another landmark as he reached his 17th Test half-century. Shakib belted Hamilton Masakadza for a boundary to bring up his half-century. He added a few runs and also brought up his 2500 Test runs. Zimbabwe captain repeatedly went with the leg-spinner Natsai Mushangwe but he couldn’t get a breakthrough for his team. On the other end Shuvagata Hom partnered with Shakib and kept rotating the strike regularly. Sikandar Raza, the part-time off spinner did the job for Brendon Taylor as he got the big wicket of Shakib.


Raza temped Shakib with a loopy delivery, Shakib shimmied down the wicket but got the leading edge to Craig Ervine at covers. Finall the southpaw went for 71 and missed opportunity to get another ton in this series. The new man Taijul Islam also went walking in the next over of the match. Shingirai Masakadza got his second wicket with the dismissal of Islam. He managed to get the outside edge of Taijul’s bat which was comfortably taken by Richmond Mutumbami behind the stumps. The last wicket partnership between Rubel Hossain and Jubair Hossain added runs 51 runs for Bangladesh. This was the best last wicket partnership for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe. Rubel took the attack on the Zimbabwe bowlers and remained unbeaten on 45. His knock included four sixes and two boundaries.
