The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup will be the 11th ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 March 2015. 49 matches will be played in 14 venues with Australia staging 26 games at grounds in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney while New Zealand hosts 23 games in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Napier, Nelson and Wellington. The 14 teams participating in this tournament Australia, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Scotland, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland, UAE. The opening match of ICC world cup 2015 will be held between hosts New Zealand and Sri Lanka on 14th Feb at Christchurch.
India is the defending champion in 2015 world. This is the second occasion when Australia and New Zealand are hosting ICC world cup after 1992 world cup. Winner of 2015 cricket world cup will be decided on 29 March at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne and will receive 39,75,000 US dollars as prize money.
International Cricket Council has declared that if 2015 world cup final is not being played due to any reason, both qualified final teams will be jointly announced as world cup holders.
