Pakistan coach Waqar Younis on Saturday walked out of his post-match press conference when he was asked about wicket-keeper batsman Sarafaz Ahmed, Geo TV reported.
Ducking questions on Ahmed’s performance, Younis said, “I won’t answer stupid questions”.
A Geo News anchor asked the coach why Ahmed had not been included in the team earlier.
At an earlier interaction with media, Younis had said that he did not consider Ahmed as an opening batsman.
Ahmed was given a chance to play in Pakistan’s 29 run win over South Africa and did not disappoint. He turned in a man of the match performance after scoring 49 runs as an opener and setting a new record by taking six catches behind the stumps.
On Saturday, Pakistan pulled off a sensational 29-run win on the Duckworth-Lewis method after the match was reduced to a 47-over-a-side contest due to rain at Eden Park in Auckland.
