Most of the other results from November 8th Round 3 are in, so here's a quick summary. Remember you can get full scorecards from CricHQ if you go via the draws/results section of the MCA website.
United vs. Palmerston North
United batted first and it appears that their openers got them off to a solid start with Rick (28) and B.Roberts (31) both doing well. I did see a couple of Ricks cover drives and they looked really good so no surprises there. More importantly United's batting showed contributions from multiple players and while there were a couple of low scores they managed to reach a very solid 197/5 off 40 overs. Palmerston's bowlers were a mixed bag. Only J.Smith with 8 overs for 22 seemed to trouble United's players the rest all appear to have been scored from easily with RPO in excess of 4.5 and 5.0. Difficult to see who got all the wickets as the scorecard has not been filled out accurately.
In reply Uniteds bowlers appeared to be much more consistent with solid performances all round. Their opening combination continued their form from the previous week and only one Palmerston batsmen posted a score of note - S.Edwards reaching 43. With 5/6 United bowlers securing wickets for a great all-round team performance they bowled Palmerston out for 131 in the 23rd over.
United win by 4 wickets.
CricHQ Match MVP - Joel Young (United)
Maw Haws vs. Dannevirke HS
Maw Haws opened the batting and Dannevirkes opening bowler G.Berry appears to have just ripped them apart nabbing 5/27 including both openers for ducks. After that only P.King with 48 offered any real resistance as they were rolled for 114 off just 32.4 overs. Dannevirkes bowlers provided a solid team performance with all of them contributing but that spell by G.Berry was the performance of the season so far.
In reply Maw Haws managed to snag some early wickets and then started to put Dannevirke under some real pressure. The game was a lot closer than it should have been and Maw Haws obviously bowled and fielded very well to get Dannevirke to 118/9 with the game going down to the very last over of the day. Would have been a great one to watch. Match winner for Dannevirke appears to have been their player-coach Bruce Hooper-Smith whose 8* saw them home.
Dannevirke win by 1 wicket
CricHQ Match MVP - Phil King (Maw Haws)
Old Boys vs. PNBHS 4th XI
Unfortunately for Boys High they just don't seem to have clicked yet this season and against Old Boys this is not a recipe for success. Old Boys captain Joe Ward scored 89 off 93 balls leading from the front yet again to see Old Boys reach 217/7 off their 40 overs.
In reply Boys High's seemed to have struggled through to 122/10 off 31.1 overs with a few batsmen getting starts but none going on. D.Hamilton was the main destroyer taking 4/19 off his 8 overs to give Old Boys another solid win.
Old Boys win by 3 wickets
CricHQ Match MVP - Daniel Hamilton (Old Boys)
Wanderers vs. Feilding
Another scorecard not entered correctly with all of the required information. But it does show that Wanderers batted first and scored 183/8 off their 40 overs and states that they won. Not sure of the actual result though.
