The CricHQ MVP system

With every team submitting score sheets through CricHQ this season we have a great online resource for checking out not just teams but individuals performances and for comparing teams & individuals against each-other.  Providing that is every team uses the system correctly and enters all the required data in full.  It also has the bonus of providing a nice back up for the usual excel sheet I use to keep everyones stats for the season.

The sites MVP system calculates everyone's individual scores in the following way.

The Formula
The MVP is a cumulative points system that rewards players for every run scored, every wicket taken and every catch held – and, how well they do it. A player achieves bonus points based in certain criteria. Batting + Bowling + Fielding + Captaincy + Winning = Total MVP points

Batting
The basis of the batting points take into account runs scored, the rate scored at and the % of the team’s total. Batting bonus points are achieved for:
Reaching a century
Achieving a benchmark run-rate
Scoring over 30% of a team’s runs

Bowling
The basis for the bowling points take into account the number of wickets and economy rates. Bowlers achieve higher points for getting out higher order batsmen Bowling bonus points are achieved for:
Achieving a benchmark economy rate
Taking 5 or more wickets in an innings
Bowling maidens

Fielding
Points are accumulated for:
Catches
Run outs – direct hits
Run outs – assists
Stumping's
Bonus for 5 fielding dismissals in an innings

Captaincy
A captain of a winning side will receive a points bonus - this one doesn't seem to work as I haven't seen any points added on yet.

Winning teams
All members of a winning team receive a points bonus.

Using the system you have the option of checking out your MVP score within your team for individual games, for the season, and within the entire grade for both individual games and the entire season.  While we have only had 3 rounds played so far the results for Premier 3 so far have been pretty interesting and do demonstrate the importance of key players to winning teams.
